Ok, today I swapped one of the tires onto a stock rim so I could pair it with the dually rim to see if there was any space between them? As you can see in the new pics, unfortunately there was only about 1/16" space between the tires.

Next, I tried removing the 3/8" spacer that comes with the disc brake kit. It sits flush with the hub and fills the space that the brake drum used to fill. It appeared that I had just enough clearance for the valve stem on the stock rim to clear. However, the lug extensions would not seat all the way to the rim. There weren't enough threads for them since there is a shoulder on the stock lugs. :( That would have reclaimed another 3/8" of space, then a 7/8" spacer could have been used between the rims which would have yielded about 15/16ths clearance between tires without affecting the total width. Too bad.

I am perplexed as to how guys are running 9.00x16 duals? Either their tires are touching, their running spacers, or have custom rims? My radials measure .3 narrower than the NDT's I seen run as duals and my tires are as close as you can get without touching.

Here are a couple of youtube videos of Bill Heberle's truck running duals. To me, it looks like he has "some" space (not much) between the tires? His outer rim appears to be just like mine? Maybe he has a custom inner rim? Paging Bill...

So I think without manufacturing new rims or brake systems, there is only one way to accomplish this.

Use the stock rim/dually combo with a 1/2" spacer in between the rims. This should yield about 9/16" space between the tires. I think as long as the tires are not touching that would be fine. These radials don't bulge like car tires. Also, it would move the outer rim 1/2" out giving a total width of exactly 96". Legal. The only thing I'm not sure about is with a 1/2" spacer, if the lugs be long enough to still use? I'm not sure I could get any longer lugs into the hub? So, this may not even work???

There is no way to cut/shorten/move/change direction of the valve stem to make it work with a dually rim on the inside. The caliper is too wide/tall and the stem exits the rim right in the middle of the caliper. The rim would have to move 1.5", at least, in or out, for the stem to clear the caliper.

Dead in the water. Out of ideas. Man I really thought I had it figured out. I thought it was way too easy using both dual rims... LOL.

Thanks for listening, love to hear your thoughts...
