Yes, That was a plasma cut on 1/2" thick box beam. Pic below is roughing in a knife edge on 1 1/2" plate. Honestly for anything over 1" I normally grab a normal cutting torch. Mine is rated at 1 1/2" but plasma has a wider kerf than a standard acet/oxy torch. You get around this by either adding to the cut line or tilting the torch.

Another thing that is not mentioned is that I've noticed that sometimes when cutting the left over edge becomes hardened. You kill a file on it. You just leave a slight amount and skim with a angle grinder. I've been told it is because of incorrect adjustments but when you are not doing production work with the same material and cuts it hard to pin point it.

It's a 1/2" from the edge of the cup to the cut line so I lay a straight edge down(box tube) and space out with 2 1/2" spacers. Quick and easy.

Some plasma cuttersyou have to hold above the material which is a pain(like a normal torch) The one I have you rest the head on the cutting material and drag it back. VERY easy to do.
