" I'm trying to puzzle out what LWS, SEVER dimension, and ESAB mean."

LWS = Local Welding Supplier- the guy within 20 miles you buy compressed gas & rods from.
It used to be a source of information and such, but those days are gone.

SEVER = the maximum thickness of metal a really good operator in a lab under perfect conditions has managed to force the machine to "cut" presuming you accept "cut" as got it in two pieces and a pile of carmelberrys.

ESAB = one of the major league weld equipment manufacturers, right up there with Lincoln and what Miller Bros, Hobart Bros and Smith used to be BEFORE they became ITW owned. ESAB is more Europe based than Miller or Lincoln.

ESAB also has a massive on line instructional component called Esab University or some similar name that anyone can access and learn from. For someone in the circumstances you describe with your proposed use I'd strongly suggest you spend some time there. I'd also tell you straight up, you DON'T need plasma.

What everybody NEEDS is an understanding of how all oxygen facilitated cutting, be it propane, acetylene, or laser cuts steel. Then and only then can you begin to understand plasma and what it can do.

I continue to be entertained by people who refuse to know what they are doing, and buy machines in the hope the machine will compensate for their lack of knowledge. In a world with google, and all that free information at your fingertips, why not learn?
