I didn't plan on it, but the wife has started to suggest that I move into a newer truck that better fits our needs. As many of you may know, we will be expecting a new addition around the new year and 1 child seat barely fits in the '01 much less 2 of them along with my bunker gear and whatever crap I'm dragging around with me.
We know we need to move up to a crew cab but the 04-07.5 dodge trucks only tickle the full crew status. I'm pretty leary of the expensive injectors as well not to mention steering and other "dodge" problems. That being said, I I'm not buying another automatic truck unless it's an allison, and I can't bring myself to go to a ford built after 1996. So I'm really thinking 04-06 2500 or 3500 SRW, 5.9 crew cab, and a 6 speed.
I'm interested in some real feedback on living with an 04-07 dodge or gm 2500/3500 series truck. Problems, great experience, 5.9/6.7 and duramax motors, and trucks with the 6 speed manual transmissions especially.
I recently drove a friends 04 3500 dually with about 360,000 miles on it, a mild tune,and pulling about 20,000 lbs like it was nothing. ...even though the truck is a bit ragged out body wise, if was more enjoyable to tow with than my 01.
