In Vietnam my 2- 250KW Cat Diesel Generators had a decompression starter that you could get the engine up to higher RPM hit it with either and shove the compression lever in to start them. The engines were taller than I was and real cool to fire off. The 2 ran the whole compound and I had to balance the load to run them both at the same time at night.
