Since you got me thinking now on the subject. I have a small fuse panel that will bypass the relay. Reason is I would hate to have the relay go bad and turn my lights and engine off at night or in heavy traffic or other places like on a hill crossing some bad stuff etc. Not really worried about my wiring burning up on me just big things that may start to let the smoke out. I could bypass it to solve the problem later but not when I am driving down the road. One reason head lights have auto resetting breakers instead of fuses. I could keep the head lights on separate fuses also since they each have a separate cable to the dash. Had a Blazer once if the high beams were on long they would kick the breaker and lose the head lights for a short time. Only happen on my dirt road leaving them on to long. Bad switch on the dimmer lever. Wake up call when it get dark and no street lights to help!
