Ink a flat surface with a felt tip. Maybe a rear view mirror? Table saw surface? Place against the gasket surface and rub a bit. Grind and file a bit where the ink transfered. re-ink. repeat. You could use carbon paper instead if felt tip, if you can find any.

On soft materials, and using a scraper, once you get 50% ink transfer by surface area you are about 1/2 of a thousand flat. You only need the surfaces to mate within ummm.010"? Easy.
