But in this case, by the time I had the remains of the old bolt out, the hole is pretty lopsided and I don't have a way to drill it back into its original position in order to get a helicoil (poor boy's or rich boy's) centered. I really just got lucky on the inner bolt -- that I got the remains out and still left most of the thread in the casting intact. The other corner one is iffy, but if it strips out, I'll just use a longer bolt and a nut there as well. I suspect they don't really need a lot of torque.
