Willy the truck is yours to enjoy. Do not repaint the whole thing. trust me a year or two down the road you will not care about the odd spot or ding that you missed.
I have done some friggin high end paint jobs. Most of it came down to prep and then wet sanding the thing and buffing it out. I really should have driven over for a few days and driven you nuts finding every little teeny flaw. But i would not consider doing it to get a better paint job, the interaction would be the only reward.
You want to know something? I tossed out all my best paint trophies years ago, they are meaningless. My best memories are driving a car and talking to old folks and kids and the best of those memories are when the car was in mismatched primer.
So if the dash is going to bug you. wrap the whole cab in a bag and paint the dash and window area and call it done.

there is a little trick with the tape that will keep you from building an edge. Do not push the tape down along the edge that will be painted, instead curl it back. We are talking about 1/4 inch of the tape curling back and the rest is in contact with the metal. this will help you if you need to feather it in a teeny bit.

I put some sound deadener under my dash today. more to do yet, I think I ran too many ground wires. Ever gauge has one. I think it would have been smarter to gang them into one.
