Gerald, I hope you get it fixed up and enjoy the heck out of it. My criticism was simply aimed at an axle that was marginal in an OEM application at half the weight, propelling four P235/75/15 tires instead of six 35's. That's a lot of force exerted on the c-clip retainers. Maybe a big bearing 9" axle would work. The axle shafts could be redrilled to your bolt pattern and the bearings would hold the wheel in place if a shaft did fail.
