If you want a dead straight finish, you have to block everything out numerous times. I do filler on bare metal and dry sand it down with 80 grit. Once I "think" it's all flat I spray slick sand. Basically it is a sprayable filler and you have to use a very large tip. Drys quick and when ready to sand, wipe it down with dry guidecoat. You basically sand all this off, it just fills in very small imperfections you missed.

Block sand it with 150 dry and fix any lows. Once it blocks out, spray with epoxy. less than 24 hours, spray high build primer. Primers vary slightly in color. Block it all again with 400 - 600 grit wet and you can see if you're getting close to the epoxy as it is a different color. Mine was nice and even as the guide coat system gets most everything.

Spraying topcoat over different primers or exposed filler will give you varying color and will probably show in the final finish. This is why they recommend that you spray a single coat of epoxy as a sealer. You do not sand it and spray your top coat after 30 minutes of dry time.

Autobodystore.com forums are a great source of info and you can get insight from guys who do this for a living. Prep is everything and blocking will prevent problems like this.
