I take it to mean he's thinking about whether or not to buy the truck (that's the "deal" he's referring to) and the cost of shipping could make or break the deal. What's so unusual about that? If you tell him you'll haul it for $10K, he probably won't buy it. If you tell him you'll haul it for free, he probably will. Somewhere in between is the real world. He just wants to know what the shipping will cost before he agrees to buy the truck. I think you read too much into an honest question.
