I believe powder coat has it's place. And I know you have used it and promoted it's use a lot, probably more than anyone I know. :) My experience with my Buckstop front and rear bumpers was terrible. They were powder coated silver and looked beautiful when I first bolted them on the truck. After 2 or 3 years, the front bumper got some rock chips which started to rust under, resulting in the powder coat flaking away. I had them sand blasted last spring and sealed/primed and painted silver. The sand blaster commented on how well the coating held to the steel, actually having to grind some of it off. But where the chips were the powder coat and the rusty metal came off easily. I emphasize again, I think the powder coating was excellent, until it was compromised with a chip, which let water and road chemicals get in. This, in my opinion would have been an easier fix with seal/prime and paint.
