There is pretty much no way the side plates could bend due to the strength of the hinges. In order for the side plates to bend the hinge plate, 4-pillow block bearings, 2-3/4" grade 8 bolts, 12 other bolts all of these would have to shear bend or break. You see it can't bend till those bend also. A twisting force might damage them but I can't see how with what the bed is set up for to lift. I can also adjust the hydraulic pressure to only lift so much weight. All it could do is crush it or tear it but those 2 side plates are T3 Steel Plate much harder than regular plate steel.
