even with the bigger cam I have always just run NOS or new. The higher lift just means the spring is compressed more resulting in more push back. never had valves float. engine rarely ever sees even close to 4,ooo rpms. in OHV the spring has to work a lot harder. more mass to move with rocker arm and pushrod and more resistance as well so more spring power needed. flathead just has to push valve straight up. even ahs gravity on its side. ;/) I would guess too heavy of a spring could cause premature cam and lifter wear.
