You must start with the right bell housing and input shaft for the NP 420. Do you already have the 270 bell housing? If so the trans holes will likely be the same as the crash box not the NP420. Check that first. If that's the case go to an M37 syncro box, it will bolt up but you must change the input shaft to that of a NP420 from a 57 Dodge with a 315 V8. That V8 bell housing is the same as all early hemi bell housing, 241-392. Some of the Dodge truck hemis found in 2 ton and up had clutches up to 12". Some of the early housings had extra lugs cast to the inside that can be drilled and taped to match the NP420 pattern.
