Hydraulics?

Any experience out there with plumbing a PW with hydraulics? I want to run a couple of rams (lift & splitter) and perhaps a 3/4" impact wrench and wondered what works best? I've been keeping my eye on ebay for motors, pumps & valves and it looks like I am down to the final choice (unless someone pipes up with a better idea):
- air powered hydraulic pump - will require an on-board compressor
- 12V electric hydraulic pump - will require heavier duty alternator & 2nd battery

I think I've ruled out PTO just based on availability (maybe I'm not looking in the right places). I have a rear PTO if I could find a unit adaptable to the PW. Cost is an issue... I've budgeted about $350 for the project.
