17 year old sailor...Robert J. Perry....fist time at sea and never made it home...The USS Indianapolis was the ship that transported the A-bomb materials to the island of Tinian (The Manhattan Project) and was sunk on 7/30/45 by Japanese sub as it returned to US unescorted...was lost several days before it was discovered....1196 on board...nearly 900 sailors lost...Only saving thought is...It did bring an and end terrible war that ended so long ago
