I hear in the midwest they spray the undersides of their cars with drain oil every fall to keep them from rusting. I know it's good for preserving wood decking on a flatbed or a trailer -- the more used it is, the more toxic it is, and the better for preventing rot. But I don't think I'd want to re-use anything in an engine that didn't look just like new.
