I always just use carb cleaner, starting fluid, or brake cleaner -- whatever volatile spray I have handy. Kills them as fast as they can come out of the nest, doesn't cost nearly as much as Raid, and doesn't leave any toxic residue that might poison desirable insects or animals. For big nests in trees and such, I'll knock 'em down with a hose or a stick in the morning when it's too cold for them to fly, or do like the old-timers did and tie a rag on the end of a long pole, soak it in kerosene, set it on fire, and stick it up under the nest. You need a good big flame to be sure to kill them all as fast as they come out of the nest, but once it's burned up, you know you're done with them.
