A Fuel Pump has a hard time pumping vapors but easy to go thru a carb. Most of the time it is the fuel pump not able to pump vapor and they call it "Vapor Lock" so you need to cool it down if this happens. A wet rag wrapped around it and keeping it wet will help turn it to liquid again. That's one reason I made my own heat shield & insulated my fuel line from the pump to the carburetor on my 6x6 because I had it happen to my first PW.
