Why do certain 100's look different than another 100?

I hope this isn't a dumb question but I am scratching my head. My dad had a 1969 Power wagon 200 with a 383 4spd years ago. I am currently getting ready to take ownership of a '64 Town Wagon. My question is why does some trucks I see use the same front clip of the TW/PW's and some have the front clip similar to my dads old 69 power wagon.

Please note I am not referring to flat fenders.
