Picked up this 1945 WC-63 from Bob Stahl at Veteran Vehicles last week. Really enjoyed meeting Bob and had a great time getting the truck running for the first time in 15 years. Learned how to free up stuck valves. John S. and son and Charlie came over and we used Charlie's 1964 Jeep as ballast to wind the cable on the drum properly since it was set up to spool cable from top of drum. Changed the oil and filter canister and cleaned the air filter. Plugged vacuum leak at wiper tube. Cleaned carb. Engine runs well with good oil pressure and 19 lbs. vacuum pressure. Valves need adjusted. Today, I installed a new choke cable and changed the gear oil in all three diffs, transmission, and transfer case. Transfer case was empty! Tomorrow, I hope to clean the tank and treat with phosphoric acid as rust converter,

Since this is a late model WC, it came with 1/2" cable on the winch and low-sided seats. Also, the front axle is set up for both lever action and tube shocks. This was so axles could be used for ambulances with tube shocks as needed. Truck is pretty rough, but you can't drive it without grinning from ear to ear! Need sheet metal and windshield frame if anybody has parts available.
