I have one Stihl 045 saw I bought in 1974. It still works perfectly every time I want it to.
I have a 3 year old Stihl garden cultivator and I have had it back to the dealer more times than I want to remember. They told me the fuel is the problem. I told them I use non-ethanol fuel. Then they said it's the fuel tank, which is translucent and the sunlight damages the fuel if it stays in there for a few weeks. I asked why Stihl would design something as stupid as that, and if they did, why didn't they recall them and fix the tanks??? No answer, shrugged his shoulders.
