You will be happy with the hydraulic winch.
I have a Mile Marker hydraulic on my '06 Dodge CTD. Hydraulics are so smooth and easy to work, and you don't have to worry about the clutch, or what gear it's in.
My '66 Ford F350 has a pto driven 10,000 Ramsey winch and a C-6 automatic transmission. Almost as good as hydraulic, but I have to go to the cab to change gears or direction.
