Interesting analogy. Not sure how far I want to go with all that. My rant was just because it seemed to be the only thing anybody was talking about yesterday, on the news and the Internet and some of these animal lovers vowed to "get" that dentist.
I'm not much for trophy hunting, but we even have it here in North Idaho and I realize it transfers money from rich tourists to hard-up locals. In Africa they don't really have hunting like we're used to, where any local can go by a license and a tag and hunt on public land. They either have huge parks were nobody is allowed to hunt, or private game farms, but nothing in between. It gives the locals no reason to care about conservation, they shoot carnivores that attack their livestock and poison elephants that trample their crops. Trophy hunting for rich foreigners at least give the locals one reason to care about the wildlife a little bit. The thing is, it's been going on since Victorian times at least, but now thanks to the Internet everybody knows the name of the pet lion and the evil dentist.
