You might have a problem because the ends tend to crack a bit in drying. Best to have 9 foot boards for a finished length of 8 foot.
But, you might luck out.
Do what Dave and jerry say, paint ends well with latex paint, then stack with "stickers" so air can go around.
Rule of thumb is one year of drying per inch of thickness
