Any paint will work as long as it is oil base. The latex paint Does Not reduce the evaporation, it allows it to dry too fast and you will have checking as if you didn't put anything one it. They do make a sealer but it is not necessary. Wax is probably the best thing to use but is not as easy to apply as oil based paint.
