Good call with the welding..sometimes you can weld things from the inside and save yourself a lot of grinding. Use some seam sealer in the gap under the cowl light. It will keep moisture out of the crack.. Are you going to leave that handle? I dont recall seeing one of those, but it is kinda cool.
