It's pretty common for coils of any sort to develop thermal intermittents (opens up or shorts out when it gets too hot or too cold, then works at normal temperatures) But if I was to the point of swapping around amongst a set of coils on a regular basis, I think I would look more closely when it's malfunctioning to be sure the coil is really the problem. That means checking voltages, not just swapping parts.
