Dodge Power Wagon Transfer Case Mystery

I have a 50 something, Dodge transfer case that has four (4) output shaft connections. Why would it have four? Two to the front two to the rear. Is the fourth for the Pulley attachment at the back of the frame for a Dodge FFPW?
