(1) you need a ten ft piece of correct diameter bar stock
(2) Tack each end of your sheet metal to the bar . leave about 3/4 overhang'
(3) roll that edge over the bar, a block of wood or a slap hammer might be the way to go.
(4) You now have a glue surface. . Using auto body adhesive , glue the rolled edge to the piece of tubing you would have welded on. To get it tight screw every foot or so and 1 inch in from each end
Once dry, tack weld each end and remove the screws and toss in a small weld. I drill out each hole to remove glue and use a counter sink bit to create a divit. weld in each divit.
(5) Run a sander down the seam and taper the top edge of the sheet metal where it joins the tube. You can shave it in half. Now fill the 1/32 valley between the tube and the box side.

No warpage and that glue is stronger than the metal, once primed no one will know, or care for that matter.
