In 1939, Dodge designed a 6 cyl diesel engine. This was not a converted gas'er but a true diesel design, using a Excello injector pump. It was used in the large trucks and some stationary applications. The designation was WKDA and VKDA.

I have been interested in this engine for quite a few years. Googling, history says there are only 2 known in existence. One is in a museum in Ct. The other was for sale in Ma, as part of a 2 truck purchase, which I found out, after it was sold.

Now, there simply has to be more than just those two engine in US ! I want to find one, rebuild/restore to new condition and make a running display of this elusive engine.

I have spent a lot of time in the local library on their high speed internet, cant find one anywhere. Any tips or rumors of one, including the one that 98 year old Grandpa has hidden in the barn to restore someday would be appreciated. I am sure if one is found, it will be a rust bucket, I accept that challenge. I just want a engine, not a complete large truck.

This link gives some great info and pictures.

If I find one, I better stock up on heat and candle wax ha ha ha.
