It's similar in the Silver Valley except it was mining rather than logging, and we don't have near as many rich Californians. Our "rich tourists" are more likely Spokane people up here to ride their quads.

The irony is that when I go through Sandpoint I see all the mountains all around covered with unbroken timber, and not a sawmill anywhere around, while here we still have millions of ounces of silver and millions of pounds of lead in the ground. So it's not like the resources aren't there to provide a real economy with jobs that will support a family. But instead, we're supposed to provide a park for city people to come look at, and we're supposed to be happy to wait tables and change the sheets for them.
