Due to dry weather and high temps in June, there were at least three major wildfires burning here in Alaska. One down on the Kenai, another out near Willow, and another up near Fairbanks. As a result there has been a ban on fires of any kind up here. No open burning of trash or leaves, no camp fires at camp grounds. Nothing. Last I heard there might not even be any fireworks for the 4th in some areas. Even the sales of fireworks has been cancelled.
It just might be a quiet time in town for a change.
