We are not talking about only a dozen or so being made, it was and is a utilitarian truck. You have one that is complete or close to it then it makes sense to keep it that way. But most of these are so far gone or missing so many parts that hot rodding them is the only sensible way to go.
A fully restored truck = hohum
A shiny done up truck = Zzzzzzzzzzzzzz
Something with patina that has been kept running for years and years = smiles and fun.
It is just a vehicle ,a bunch of parts , transportation.
Are all the appliances in your house period correct?
And what about your body…..got any non original parts?
