Pipe dream or possibility?

Hi,I want to eventually purchase a power wagon as my only daily driver. I see that the going rate for some refurbished p.w's. is about 20-25kish. I’m not a mechanic, but I'm ok with hiring someone to fix future issues. I'd have to purchase one that is mostly refurbished, if not all the way done. I don’t have deep pockets, but I know a good reasonable mechanic. Does anyone think this is a bad idea? I sometimes get the feeling that this is a truck that should only be owned by people who have expert knowledge in auto repair. Maybe this is just my pipe dream.
