Which carb do you want to run? The square-top with integral governor and vacuum advance accelerator pump or the round-top with sandwich governor and mechanical accelerator pump? If you tried rebuilding the square-top without changing the accelerator pump spring, it may give you fits. This is because the original 50oz spring was too strong and would cause the engine to stall under load. The proper replacement spring is 40oz. It is a different color, copper or brass color as I recall. I can check my notes. Dimitrios at Pasco Reef Micro Restorations in Florida can make either of your carbs work like new.
