I was driving the Power Wagon off road the other day, and when I was going up a slight grade in soft sand, I stalled the motor because I was still in 2nd. The day was hot, and I could not re-start the engine, it was fuel starved and I could see little if any gas in the fuel bowl. After letting it sit for 5-10 minutes and pouring water on the fuel line, etc. I still could not get it to start.
An older man who had a mechanical background came over, and helped me. He first had me turn it over fully choked for about 15 seconds, then I pushed the choke all the way in and cranked it about 15 seconds. He could see fuel flowing again in the bowl, but the engine still did not want to "catch".
He then pulled the coil wire out slightly from the coil and voila, it started right up.
He said that this trick causes a hotter spark as "the current had to jump the gap" you created. He then pushed the coil wire back in and off we went.
