So I got home from work last evening, early for the holiday weekend and I went down to the shed and found the mother raccoon had left and now only the offspring were left in the wheels. They were very small, so I pulled off the remaining wheels and tires and scooped the babies into an old round washtube that was the same diameter as a Budd rim with hay in it "nest like". I walked deep into the woods and placed the tub next to a hollow tree and covered it with a piece of plywood and some branches to help it blend in and provide a little seclusion. Thinking that was the end of it, I cleaned up the shed stacked the wheels "verticle this time" and swept out all the chewings, and closed up the doors.

This morning "next day" I was taking down a few trees and needed all my chains so I could help the tree go where I wanted it to fall. I had all but one as I took Gregs advice on the chain method to see who was still in the tires the previous day. Down to the shed I go, open the door and hear nothing, few. Bend over to pick up the chain on the floor and scurry, scurry, scurry hissssss. She was in there again, but in the BACK of the truck this time inbetween a spare gas tank and the front of the bed. UGH! Not only was she back, but she brought all the kids back with her! I wanted her out, but now she was in a spot where there wasn't anyway for her to leave if I was there urging her to get out, and I didn't want to get stuck between her and her kids. The shed doesn't have siding in the back, so I unscrewed one of the plywood pieces and tried urging her out one way or the other, with no luck. Fine, I will go eat lunch, but you need to be gone when I get baack!

Well she wasn't and in the end I am sorry. She won't be back this time.

I am now closing up the rafter to wall area with chicken wire.
