If you can handle it try cranberry juice also. I have been in EMS for awhile; push for ultrasound treatment. Look up - Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy, it is not invasive. I have not had to deal with VA, and I know Sutter and Mercy have to be pushed to do it out here(at least in my families experience), but it works.
Just my opinion of course, but I did stay in a Holiday Inn once!
