That's a weird quirk, but with these modern computerized cars anything is possible. These days a "switch" is just a humble request to the computer to please consider doing something if it's not too much trouble. You can't turn on a light without a computer getting in the middle of things. My suggestions were for simple normal problems, but when computers are involved (a dozen in a modern vehicle) there's no telling what could go wrong. One wouldn't think it would take a computer to monitor the battery voltage and regulate the alternator but I wouldn't put anything past the kind of engineers they get these days -- kids whose "lab" classes were just computer simulations and who've never actually built any real thing.
