This sounds like a bad connection to me under load. Voltage is dropping due to resistance some where in the wiring or connections. Heat develops problem get worse and after cooling down it allows the amps to flow for a while. I would put it under load and feel all the wiring and connections for a hot spot when the volts drop. If it is putting out 14.7 measure it at head lights and see what it is when there on. Should have a drop but not over 3% and 1.5% is better. Your load can be used up in a bad connection thru heat. Diodes bad will mess with your battery not charging it right and draining it when off. After a while it kill the battery but should still put out power to run things. Look in a fire wall connection, Main Battery Cable splice for smaller wire, fuse panels batt fuse connection ETC. I have been chasing a intermittent tail/brake light problem in my 79 Chevy for years! About ready to just rewire the whole bed.
