We spent several weekends running code from fire to fire. Some of them we probably didn't need to put out but the landowner felt they were out of hand and called them in. I thought last year was busy, but I fought more wildfire in 3 weeks this season than I fought all of 2014.
We don't see the intensity, duration, or loss of property like the forest fire states do but I learned very quickly and at a young age that these grass fires are just as dangerous, devastating, and unpredictable. Our main fire season is wrapping up here as quickly as things are greening up but I have been told by several of the locals that we may see another series of burns later in the summer to control some invasive species that don't come up until then, hopefully it won't be as dry as it has been in previous years.
