I know the bed mount is over kill but it will also beef the frame up where they spliced it. Once in place the frame will never give way and I feel much better about it done right with steel got for the job. The bend goes under the frame and the long strips weld to it tight on top of the frame to form the "C" channel. Then the other pieces go inside the frame tight fitting and sandwich it all together with bolts. The frame will have 4 sections of 3/16" at the weld spot. It will still flex some using plates and bolts if needed but not at the weld.
