This was covered on Hotrod Garage (yes, i know, *groan*), the benefits from using cheap leaf blower style 'turbos' can be noted, but the benefits are so small that its not worth the time/effort/cost/etc.

You're better spending the money on sprucing up the motor, increasing compression, etc.
