My locks were in bad shape too. I replaced mine with stuff from here:

The original latches were modified by welding a strip of sheet metal on the bottom to bolt the actuators to. The actuators will want to return to center; in my case I made a detent spring and notch to hold the actuator either open or closed.. Start on one door, the second door will be much easier & faster to fab.
You will need power through the door jamb; I recommend the contacts like these:
