I was going to put that wrecked FC crewcab on a '92 W250 Cummins chassis. I've got a good civilian cab for parts, and my friend Paul already has a low-buck Dodge donor up for grabs. When I found the good M677 recently, I decided to keep it mostly original and part with jigsaw puzzle. Either way, no Forward Control Jeep is going to be a kosher family truckster with a diesel rattling right in the middle of the cab.

I just got the new AC completed on the 4bt Wagoneer and it strikes me that it is now DONE, and I can maintain it indefinitely, because it is all rugged, reliable, and serviceable-unlike the electronic Grand Cherokee for which I am planning to part with the Wagoneer. The new Cherokee is more cushy and quiet. I feel like I'm making a deal with the Devil, because there is no way I can service that common rail Mercedes and the web of electronics that control it. I nearly got stuck in wet grass the other night, because the computer would not let me spin the tires. The old method of rocking back and forth was overridden by the better judgment imposed on me by some computer programmer.

How serious are you about adding extra doors to the Carryall? That sounds a little far fetched even for me, but if you really think you're going that route, you could add a few inches while you're at it to fit the wheelbase of your modern frame. A little extra length in the body might actually help squeeze the doors in. It seems like I've seen an attempt like that somewhere?

If you get that far and still have a gaping hole in the back, maybe you can talk me out of the panel van doors I have stashed away?
