In my view, the only dangerous part of split ring tires is filling them with air after they have been apart.
I made a 25 foot long hose with a screw on fitting that attaches to the tiube valve stem.
I put the tire outside of the garage, and I can fill it from inside. I can even check the pressure as I am filling from a safe distance.
To make the hose, I bought a metal 90 degree valve stem extension for large trucks, cut it in half and hose clamped each end into my hose.
It is a simple way to give some peace of mind.
