My old girl had many small growths on the skin that the vet was not worried about. I left them alone and planned to have them cut off if I ever had to have her sedated. She really needed her teeth cleaned and I kept putting that off because I was afraid (probably without good cause) that the anesthetic might harm a large older dog. I never did have her teeth professionally cleaned (scraped them myself), but I probably should have. She might have been more comfortable with a few pulled. A lung tumor and possibly something growing in her brain (probably) finally did her in, not skin tags and fatty lumps.

So my anecdotal story says? They may not need to be removed, but if they bother her (or they really bother you) and you have the means, then have the worst cut off while under for something else that's therapeutic. If it makes her feel better why wait? If there really is no need then why rush?

I hope you and your dog have many more happy years ahead.
